Ousted But Not Defeated

To be “Ousted but not Defeated” means to have been removed from a position of power or authority, but to still possess a sense of resilience and determination. The term “Ousted but not Defeated” was initially used by a Russian news channel RT for Imran Khan in which the whole story of ouster of Khan from government was covered along with the aftermaths of regime change operation against Khan’s government.

Regime Change Operation in Pakistan

This year 9th April 2023 will marked as one year of removal of Imran Khan from the government and that last year have been so eventful for the Pakistani politics as ouster of Imran Khan from the public office has not been accepted by the masses. After leaving the public office following the 2022 due to alleged regime change operation, Imran Khan has remained an active political figure in Pakistan. He has continued to advocate for his political vision and has criticized the actions of his successors in the Pakistani government. Khan has been vocal about his belief that his government made significant progress in areas such as education, health, and social welfare, and he has been critical of the current government’s policies in these areas. He has also been a vocal advocate for Pakistan’s sovereignty and has spoken out against what he sees as foreign interference in Pakistan’s affairs. 

In addition to his political activism, Khan has also remained involved in philanthropic work through his SKMCHRC (Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre) which dispenses free cancer treatment to patients in Pakistan. Even though after the regime change operation against Khan’s government through a successful controversial vote of no confidence movement by the opposition alliance PDM, Khan and his followers has faced worst of the retortion by the government and state institutions because of the resistance provided by the masses against the ouster of Khan from the government which is kind of a new trend followed by the PTI and masses in Pakistan.

Although Khan’s followers faced extra judicial torture, harassment and even killings. Also, Khan survived a murderous attack and escaped from arrest many times through false judicial cases.

Due to the immense and absolute popularity among masses, Khan is looking forward to making it into the government for the 2nd term with the absolute power which has become a worry for opponents and even for the establishment of the Pakistan as ouster of Khan has scratched beautiful masks covering the ugly face of the ruling system which exposed every institution of Pakistan specifically the military establishment faced a greater setback during the process. While Khan is determined to bring change in the political system of Pakistan despite of the meagre and dwindling economical condition of Pakistan which will be a big ask. 

Ultimately, for Khan, being “ousted but not defeated” is about refusing to give up in the face of adversity and remaining committed to achieving your goals, even when faced with significant obstacles. It is a way of framing setbacks as opportunities for growth and resilience, rather than as defeats. Overall, Imran Khan’s stance after leaving public office has been one of continued activism and advocacy for his political vision and for the betterment of Pakistan. While he may have been ousted from his position as Prime Minister, he remains a prominent figure in Pakistani politics and a strong voice for change in the country against kleptocracy.
